For the past few years my good friends Jim & Tammy McGarry have been in the process of beginning and developing More Than Carpentry Christian Ministries. It's been neat to have known them from the time that this ministry was just a dream and a hope in their hearts and minds up to the present day as they now have a building and volunteers helping to continue preparing and growing the ministry. Through many struggles, setbacks, and difficulties, it has been clear that God has been providing a way for this ministry to serve and grow His kingdom.
I've volunteered and prayed many hours for Jim & Tammy and More Than Carpentry. I wrote an article about their ministry for our church's newsletter a while back. And I'm on the board of directors. In a nutshell, I support MTC, and I think you should too.
Here's a link to a summary of MTC's purpose and vision for the ministry.
Here's a link to MTC's blog, where you can find updates about the progress of the ministry.
Here's link to an interview that Jim & Tammy did on a local radio program. (How cool is that!)
Find out about this ministry. Decide whether you might be called to support MTC financially. If you're in the St. Louis area, decide whether you might be called to support MTC with time and sweat on a volunteer work day. You can easily (and powerfully) serve MTC by praying for it. This is missional, kingdom work, bringing the gospel to a community that needs it. This is Jesus fulfilling His promise to build His church. Join in!
